The new building of the Faculty of Architecture arose on one of the last few available estates on the university campus in Dejvice in 2011. It became the latest addition to the complex of buildings whose original urban appearance was sketched by architect Antonín Engel in the 20th century. The atelier of architect Alena Šrámková did not win the first place in an architecture contest, but their project was recommended by the committee for further completion. Although the iron-concrete monolithic building seems simple, the boldly-colored side constructions, which contain lecture halls, make it look unusual. As the architect herself says, the school’s building should emphasize the idea of openness, simplicity and truthfulness, as those are the values that education is built on.
