Architektura první republiky

Address: Na Poříčí 24, Praha 1
Year: 1921–1923; 1937–1938; 1991–1994 (reconstruction)
Architects: Josef Gočár; František Marek; Vojtěch Obadálek; Miroslav Melena and Ivan Plicka (a theater)

The decorative 1923 building of the Legiobank was designed by the architect Josef Gočár in the formerly disparaged, but now appreciated “national” style. The Legiobank was successful and so soon, an adjacent functionalist building was added, which now houses the Archa theater. Come and see the mostly inaccessible bank premises, which were state of the art for the period, including a pneumatic tube line that was working till 1998.
